Hello, I’m the Martini Socialist.

Making martinis is my favourite thing to do.

I’m originally from the Hebrides in Scotland, a place long associated with the drinks industry for its whisky production and more recently expansion of good quality gins.

It’s also a fantastic place for seafood and sunsets, even if the weather isn’t always perfect. I don’t like to complain about the weather too much though. It certainly doesn’t stop me getting in the sea whenever I can.

I’ve been lucky enough to work all over the world, from Manhattan to Baghdad (hence my Arabic) and Marseilles to Kandy, which has given me plenty of inspiration for martini-related ideas and techniques. These days, I am usually based in London.

If I had to choose between making or drinking martinis, I would choose making them, because it’s wonderful to drink a martini, a greater pleasure to create one, but even more of a thing of beauty to see someone else enjoying it.

Some people think martinis are elitist but I think everyone should be able to sip them. If you want to know how to make your own, find out here:
