It’s been a wild year. I hit a very unexpected 100,000 viewers in the summer, then the dizzy milestone of 200,000 viewers just a few days ago.
It seems that quite a few people around the world are trying to find out how to make martinis. But which ones in particular?
Let’s have a run down of the top ten most-viewed martini recipes on the site this year.
We’ve got some surprises, some reassuring classics and an ultimate winner that might not sit well with everyone, but you can make up your own mind!
Number 10: the Gimlet!

First up in number ten, it’s classic, it’s refreshing, it’s subject to frequent online debates: it’s the humble Gimlet!
Some people swear by Rose’s cordial. Some people balk at anything but homemade lime juice syrup. The Danish bar bird does an amazing riff on the classic (pictured above). But there’s really only one way to find out what you think: try it out! And read the Gimlet recipe here.
Number 9: the Dirty Martini!

A reliable variation on the classic, this martini remains popular the world over. It titillates, you salivate, and it hits the spot!
Read the Dirty Martini recipe here.
And learn how to pimp it with tonnes of olives here!
Number 8: the Churchill!

Winston would be proud of his alcoholic legacy. This is the variation without vermouth. Glare at the bottle, bow in the direction of the troops or pay homage to all manner of other notions that arose with this variation and enjoy a little bit of boozy history. Read the recipe here.
Number 7: the Hot ‘n’ Dirty

This one always catches people’s eye, and it’s quite the drink! Savoury and fiery, it’s really good before a meal and is always sure to set the scene for a good night ahead. Find out how to make and garnish it here.
Number 6: the Parmesan Cheese Martini

This has been a firm favourite for a decade, and was the number one most popular martini on this site for years. However, despite being knocked from the top spot, it’s still a clear preference for many. It takes a couple of days to prepare but you can find out how to do it here.
Number 5: the Filthy Martini

Is this just an extra dirty, Dirty Martini? No! It hasn’t been touched by a olive. It’s a highly underrated variation, and it goes really well with fried seafood. What is it exactly? Click here to find out!
Number 4: the Bone Dry Martini

Not for beginners, this is for martini fans who have tried a few variations and like things a little less sweet or easy. It’s a recommended version for when you’ve had a long day, week or year and need something to fix things quickly. Read all about it here.
Number 3: Keeping it Classic

We reach the antepenultimate entry which I’m very pleased to say is the definitive classic martini. It’s cold gin with a splash of vermouth and a garnish of either olive or lemon peel.
Read the recipe here, which I set out using the DUKES Bar method.
Number 2: the Blue Cheese Martini

A lot of people really seem to want to incorporate cheese into their martini. Personally I prefer to serve the cheese on the side and stick to the classic but I experimented and you can read the results here.
If you’ve got blue cheese, I really think it tastes much better simply served on a platter with your ice cold martini standing firm right next to it but martinis are all about personal preference so find out what works for you.
And that leaves us with nothing but the final entry, which is:
NUMBER 1: THE PORN STAR MARTINI

Okay some people will be disappointed. Yes, it’s gimmicky. Yes it’s on the menu of numerous tacky bars looking to jump on the bandwagon. But is it a good cocktail? Also yes!
I was sceptical for a long, long time but if you prepare it correctly, it’s actually an amazing drink and very obviously an ice breaker if you’re making it with company.
If you haven’t tried it, I really recommend giving it a go. You can always rename it the Passion Fruit Martini to tone things down a bit, but it’s a legitimately good drink with contrasting flavours, textures and sensations all the way. Read the recipe here.
And let’s see what turns out to be most popular martini of 2025…
Happy New Year!
